Update for Friday, 24 September

Tēnā koutou katoa,

As week 9 comes to an end, the end of term is just around the corner with only one week of Term 3 remaining.  It will be just over half of Term 3 that we have all been in lockdown and our students have been online Distance Learning from home.  A highlight has been seeing and reading the creativity that students have been engaging in.

Congratulations to our Chess Team who won the recent Auckland Chess Power Online Competition, qualifying for the upcoming Chess Power National Competition!
Our players also dominated the top four individual standings, with Pranav from Room 24 recognised as the top player.  Well Done!

The Light at the End of the Very Long Tunnel

At the most trying of times
the littlest bit
of kindness and strength
goes the longest of ways
A smile
A hug
A nod of the head
A call
A letter
Or even a mask
No matter the
time, place or person
The littlest bit
goes the longest of ways

Because not all can see
The light at end
Of the very long tunnel
Not all can feel the warmth of the sun
Or the smell of tea
on a wet windy day
All some can do is
Taste the struggle
Smell the fear
Indulge in whispers
going ear to ear
But the littlest bit
goes the longest of ways
So take them ‘round the corner
So that they too can see
The light at the end
of the very long tunnel

We’ll find our groove
On the wall of frustration
We’ll surface above the
seas of devastation
But until we do
we’ll just have to hang in there.
If we share around
the positivity,
The kindness
The optimism
The littlest things
Which go the longest of ways,
We’ll all make it to
The light at the end
of the very  long  tunnel.
