Update for Monday, 27 September

你们好  [Nĭmen hăo], Tālofa and welcome to week ten of Term 3.

This is the last week of Term 3 and there is a lot going on!.  Throughout this week, we are celebrating both NZ Chinese Language week and Tuvalu Language week.

NZ Chinese language week is all about encouraging kiwis to give Mandarin a go!
Here’s 3 phrases for you and your whānau to practise this week:

You can find more details about NZ Chinese language week here: https://www.nzclw.com/

And let’s keep the Tuvaluan language alive by practising these 3 phrases:

  1. My name is:              Toku igoa ko …
  2. Thank you:                Fakafetai
  3. Have a nice day:       Manuia te aso!

Celebrate and connect online by visiting the official NZ Tuvalu Language Week Facebook page!

This week is also Mental Health Awareness week.   We use this week to remind everyone about connecting with the people in our lives and creating space for conversations about mental health and wellbeing.  Whether it’s checking in with a mate, having a kōrero over some kai or saying hello to a stranger, a little chat can go a long way.  Particularly with these challenging COVID times, this message is more important than ever.
There are many support resources available, with the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand Facebook page being a good start to access these resources.

Thanks for supporting your children for this last week of distance learning for Term 3.

Have a good week and I will be in touch at the end of the week.

Aroha Nui,

Kristen Walsham
Principal – Tumuaki

Stay well, stay safe and be kind.
