Return to School next week, Update for Friday 12 November

Kia ora koutou,

Thank you to everyone who has responded to our survey sent out yesterday about whether your child will be returning to school when we reopen next week.

As part of our Health and Safety plan for re-opening, students are allocated specific days to return to school.  This means that we can operate with smaller numbers of students in the classroom and playground to reduce risk.

We also have different, staggered arrival, break times and finish times as part of our safety plan.

If you have responded that your child will be returning to onsite schooling:

  • You and your child will be receiving an email this afternoon to let you know which two days they will be coming onsite for school as well as our strict guidelines around start and finish times, and mandatory mask use.
  • For the days that onsite students will not be on site at school, they will work on follow up work provided by their teacher.

For those families who have not yet responded to our survey:

  • We have marked your child that they will be attending school onsite, so you will also receive an email this afternoon.  Please let your teacher know or email our office if you choose for your child to not attend onsite.

For all students who will continue to remain at home and not come back into school:

  • your classroom teacher will be providing set work for their students to work on.

For next week, on Monday 15th November, our usual online distance learning programme remains in place and your teachers will hold their usual google meets with their students.

From Tuesday 16th November onwards there will be no further online meets with the teachers.
On Tuesday 16th, all our staff will be back at school setting up their classrooms in preparation for the return of students from Wednesday.

From Wednesday 17th November onwards all of our teachers will be working onsite.  Classroom teachers will not be able to hold online lessons but will provide learning that can be done on the days at home.

Our Specialist Teachers(Food Technology, Materials Technology, Science, Performing Arts) will be holding some online lessons.  They will be in touch directly with the students about when these will be.

We are working hard to ensure that we have systems in place to help keep everyone safe and minimise risks of return to onsite school.

We realise these changes may be unsettling for our students, but our teachers are very aware of this and will be working with their students to make sure they are comfortable and happy to learn.

We have attached a document to this newsletter of our safety and preventative measures that we have put in place for the return to school.

We take the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff very seriously, so we go above and beyond the Ministry of Health’s guidelines to ensure we have done everything we can.

As we settle into our new way of schooling, we know that we may need to make changes along the way. Thank you once again for your continued support as we navigate our way through these historic times!

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or our office on if you have any questions or concerns.
