Whakapuāwai – To Thrive

Message from the Principal

The term is now at an end.  It has certainly been another historic year in which we have navigated COVID safely and completed half a year of distance learning together.  Thank you for the trust and support that you have shown and for your work supporting your children’s learning from home.

The resilience our students have demonstrated, by not giving up and finding the joy and appreciation in what we have been able to do together, is a real credit to them, to our teachers and to whānau.

Next year sees some of our staff moving to the primary school sector, moving out of education, and going on maternity leave.

We wish Ms Claire Holmes, who has worked at MRI for ten years in the Performing Arts area, all the very best.  Our warmest best wishes also go to Mr Dylan Wiggill, Mrs Chelsea Lee, Mrs Natasha Nethula and Ms Nathania Free as they move on.  We greatly appreciate all they have contributed to MRI.

Mrs Alicia England will be on maternity leave for 2022 and we will be thinking of her and her husband as they welcome their new baby into their family.

We have been fortunate to appoint quality replacement staff who are excited and looking forward to joining our school and community in 2022.

I would like to acknowledge the work of our wonderful staff who pour their heart and energy into making our school the best it can be for your children. This is evident in the great school that we are all a part of.

We all hope that 2022 brings more normality as we manoeuvre within the Covid Protection Framework, finding ways to work within the restrictions to help keep our families and community safe.

We look forward to continuing to work with you next year to support your children and help them achieve their goals and thrive at Intermediate School.

Ngā mihi o te Kirihimete me te Tau Hou – Season’s Greetings for Christmas and the New Year!
